"1st Anhui-Taiwan Science & Technology Forum—6th Management Science Forum across the Taiwan Straits” that co-hosted by the School of Management, USTC was held on 4 September. The forum is aimed at creating platform for experts and scholars in technology and management science fields across the Taiwan Straits to improve exchange and cooperation. More than 200 representatives attended the forum.

At 8:30 am, the opening ceremony of the forum and the theme report was held at east auditorium of Hefei Daoxianglou Hotel, with the theme of the forum of “Cooperation and Development of Regional Science, Technology and Economy”. NI Fake, vice governor of Anhui province firstly addressed at the ceremony, and he pointed out that exchange across the Taiwan Straits becomes more and more frequent these years, which makes more achievements in technology innovation and project exchange. The topic of Anhui-Taiwan Science & Technology Exchange was added this time, which will benefit Anhui and Taiwan. He hoped Anhui-Taiwan Science & Technology Forum could be sustainable so that both sides can further make exchange and cooperation.

HUANG Junying, president of Taiwan China Society for Public Administration made a speech at the ceremony. He congratulated the opening of the forum on behalf of Taiwan China Society for Public Administration, and he stated that the Management Science Forum across the Taiwan Straits had been successfully held for 5 times, which built cooperation opportunity for both sides and helped improve the friendship. He pointed out the development of innovative Anhui had laid a deep impression on him, and he hoped more fruits would be gained with the exchange in science and technologic innovation.

ZHANG Shulin, vice president of USTC, attended the ceremony and made a speech. She firstly welcomed representatives from Taiwan, and she said the exchange across the Taiwan Straits not only prompting the cooperation of science and education but also improving economic development across the Taiwan Straits. With topic of “Cooperation and Development of Regional Science, Technology and Economy”, the forum showed the development room of academic exchange and cooperation across the Taiwan Straits, and it is believed to further deepen the exchange and prompt the cooperation between Taiwan and Anhui. University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is one of the most influential universities in Mainland China, and it has cooperation with colleges and universities of Taiwan in many academic fields. The School of Management has educated a batch of PhD students for Taiwan. At last, she wished a success for the forum, and hoped all the representatives would have a good time in USTC.

Representatives attended the opening ceremony included SHEN Aimin, member of party committee of China Association for Science and Technology and director of academic committee, KE Shaoyu, vice president of Fujian Association for Science and Technology. The opening ceremony was hosted by ZHOU Jianqiang, secretary of party committee and executive vice president of Anhui Association for Science and Technology. Representatives form Anhui and Taiwan signed an agreement on experts’ interaction, co-research and co-teaching and strengthening exchange visits of teachers and students.

After the ceremony, prof. WAN Xiaochun, vice president of Anhui Association for Science and Technology and president of Anhui Agricultural University, prof. WU Lianshang, vice president of National Kaohsiung Normal University, prof. HUA Zhongsheng, deputy dean of School of Management, USTC were invited to give keynote speeches, and they got to interact with representatives on innovation of agriculture science and technology, innovation of industry development and innovation of service.

The sub-forums and closing ceremony were held at the School of Management from 2pm. The forum has six sub-forums, namely, Innovation and Practice of Public Management, Enterprise Management and Innovation, Spread and Popularization of Science and Technology, Relationship between Modern Agriculture Development and Science & Technology, Defense and Warning of Meteorological Disaster, Communication and Cooperation of Technology Committee across the Taiwan Straits.

The sub-forum of Innovation and Practice of Public Management was to discuss how to promote innovative development of public management through the reference of policies and measures of public management across the Taiwan Straits. Associate professor of School of Management, USTC--ZHANG Zengtian and WEI Jiuchang gave lectures about construction of a clean and honest administration and group unexpected incidents treatment.

The emphasis of the sub-forum of Enterprise Management and Innovation is to discuss how to grasp business opportunities, innovation mechanism and how to improve competitiveness through building brand. Prof. LIU Zhiying and Dr. WU Jianlin of the School of Management gave lectures about incentives in businesses and buying interest.

Experts and scholars also made thorough analysis and discussion on the other four sub-forums. The closing ceremony was held at the lecture hall of the School of Management on 5pm. Prof. LIANG Liang addressed at the ceremony. He thanked all the participants, and hoped the Anhui-Taiwan Science & Technology Forum would continue success and talents of both sides can have more chance to communicate. The forum successfully ended after relative organizations exchanged their presents.

“Management Science Forum across the Taiwan Straits” has been held for 6 times since 2006, which has laid a great effect on management science field across the Taiwan Straits, and has made contribution to strengthen academic exchange and to promote the management science and economic development across the Taiwan Straits.
