2013 International Workshop on Management Science and Operations Research was successfully held in the School of Management, USTC during 21-22 July 2013. The workshop was organized by University of Science and Technology of China, with co-organizers Xiamen University, Chinese University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. More than 40 experts and scholars from universities of the U.S., Singapore, Hong Kong and Mainland China were attracted by the workshop.
The opening ceremony was held in the morning of 21 July. LIU Zuoyi, director of Department of Management Science, National Natural Science Foundation, LIANG Liang, executive dean of School of Management, USTC and HUA Zhongsheng, associate dean of School of Management, USTC addressed at the opening ceremony, with more than 300 teachers and students from the School attended. The opening ceremony was hosted by YU Yugang, associate dean of the School of Management, USTC.

After the opening ceremony, special invited guests prof. Xiuli Chao from University of Michigan, prof. Li Chen from Duke University, prof. Vernon Hsu from Chinese University of Hong Kong, prof. Zuo Jun Shen from University of California, Berkeley, prof. Chung-PiawTeo from National University of Singapore, prof. Jiawei Zhang from New York University and prof. Shaohui Zheng from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology gave presentations on their recent research.

In the morning of 22 July, guests of the workshop visited Hefei Metalforming Machine Tool Co., Ltd and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co., Ltd under the guidance of YU Yugang.
Four sessions that focused on Supply Chain and Inventory Management, Behavioral Operations Management, Carbon Emission Management and Healthcare, Disaster & Green Supply Chain Management took place in the afternoon of 22 July.
